A new study has found that fast-food packaging including paper bags and compostable paper bowls contain toxic chemicals that are not only harmful to your health but to the environment as well.

Published in the journal Environmental Science, researchers tested 42 kinds of paper food packaging including sandwich and burger wrappers, popcorn serving bags, and greasy papers that are used to pack desserts and doughnuts.

The findings suggested that 45 per cent of the samples contain fluorine which may increase the risk of cancer, reduce immunity and fertility and alter metabolism.
