Everyone has their preferences when it comes to sleeping positions. However, celebrity dermatologist, Jaishree Sharad has shared a post mentioning that if you consistently sleep on one side of your face over many years, the pressure from the pillow onto your face may cause creases, especially around your mouth and your eyes. In some cases that side of the face may also seem flatter than the other side.

To avoid this, sleep flat on your back or keep changing sides. Also, opt for pillows available in the market which help in sleeping straight.

So the next time you wanna squish your face into your pillow be mindful of the lines and wrinkles that may form on that side of the face.

Negative effects of sleeping in one position

Facial Wrinkles and Creases: As mentioned by dermatologist Jaishree Sharad, sleeping on one side of your face can lead to pressure from the pillow causing creases, particularly around the mouth and eyes. Over time, these creases can become more prominent and contribute to premature ageing.

Muscle Stiffness and Joint Pain: Sleeping in the same position night after night can lead to muscle stiffness and joint pain, especially in areas like the neck, shoulders, and back. This can result in discomfort and reduced mobility during the day.

Poor Circulation: Certain sleeping positions, such as sleeping on your stomach or in a fetal position, can restrict blood flow to certain parts of the body. Over time, this can lead to issues like numbness, tingling, and poor circulation, particularly in the extremities.

Spinal Misalignment: Sleeping in a position that doesn't properly support the natural curvature of the spine can lead to spinal misalignment. This can cause back pain, discomfort, and even more serious spinal issues over time.

Also watch: This summer consume these spices in moderation to avoid digestive problems
