A recent study has revealed that approximately 25 per cent of women may encounter irregular heartbeats following menopause.

This condition is referred to as atrial fibrillation or AFib, resulting in an irregular, quivering, or rapid heart rhythm. Factors such as insomnia and stressful life events were identified as contributors to this issue.

While atrial fibrillation itself is not immediately life-threatening, it does pose an increased risk of complications like blood clots, stroke, and heart failure.

The study's researchers analyzed data from over 83,000 women, averaging 64 years of age, and found that 25 per cent (approximately 23,954 women) developed AFib. Therefore, medical attention is advised for this condition.
