Winter is knocking at the door and it's time to take out your favourite knits. Your woollens are precious and need special care so that they run longer and smell fresh.

Here are 10 tips to take care of your woollens this winter:

Proper Storage: Store woolens in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture and mold growth. Use breathable storage bags or containers to allow air circulation.

Clean Before Storage: Ensure that your woolens are clean before storing them. Wash or dry clean to remove any dirt, oils, or stains that could attract pests.

Use Natural Repellents: Employ natural repellents such as cedar balls or lavender sachets in your storage containers to deter moths and other insects.

Avoid Sunlight: Prolonged exposure to sunlight can fade and weaken wool fibers. Store your woollens in a dark place to maintain their color and quality.

Fold, Don't Hang: Fold your woolens instead of hanging them to avoid stretching. Hanging can distort the shape of the garment, especially heavier items like sweaters.

Avoid Plastic Bags: Plastic bags can trap moisture, leading to mold and mildew growth. Opt for breathable fabric or cotton garment bags for storage.

Regularly Air Out: Periodically take your woolens out of storage, shake them out, and let them air. This helps prevent mustiness and allows for fresh air circulation.

Interleave with Tissue Paper: Place tissue paper between layers of folded woolens to prevent them from sticking together and to provide additional protection.

Use Mothballs Wisely: If using mothballs, ensure they are placed in a breathable bag or container. Avoid direct contact with the garments to prevent unwanted odor transfer.

Rotate Usage: Rotate the use of your woolen items to prevent overuse and wear on specific pieces. This helps maintain the overall quality and longevity of your woolens.
