It's an ongoing discussion about how to apply makeup without harming your skin. Recently, dermatologist Rashmi Shetty shared makeup dos and don'ts on 'The Ranveer Show'.
Rashmi highlighted that many of us don't clean our make up sponges properly, leading to bacterial infections. So, it's important to clean them regularly and dry them. Shetty also advises to opt for disposable sponges which are better alternatives. Makeup brushes also harm the skin due to rough bristles. Choose your brushes wisely.
Always keep your makeup in a hygienic place in a tightly closed container. Never use expired makeup products on the skin no matter how expensive they are. And, lastly, layer your skin with good moisture and sunscreen before applying makeup.
Cleanse: Start with a clean face by washing away dirt, oil, and impurities before applying makeup.
Hydrate: Moisturize your skin with a suitable moisturizer to keep it hydrated and plump, providing a smooth canvas for makeup application.
Primer: Apply a primer to create a barrier between your skin and makeup, helping to minimize pores and prolong the wear of your makeup.
Choose quality products: Opt for makeup products that are non-comedogenic and formulated for your skin type to prevent clogged pores and breakouts.
Clean tools: Regularly clean your makeup brushes, sponges, and other applicators to remove bacteria and prevent skin irritation or infections.
Remove makeup before bed: Always remove your makeup before going to bed to allow your skin to breathe and regenerate overnight.
Sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF protection to shield your skin from harmful UV rays, even if your makeup contains SPF.
