While social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram are known for beauty tutorials and hacks, there's a new trend emerging which is encouraging users to ditch sunscreen.

Several self-proclaimed skincare experts have been posting #antisunscreen content on TikTok and are urging users to stop using the beauty product as it contains toxic ingredients which may damage the skin.

According to TikToker Shannon Fairweather, natural ingredients like coconut oil and mayonnaise work better than SPF creams.

However, as per dermatologists, SPF is essential for the skin as it protects you from sun damage, sunburn, and skin cancer. The The National Health Service (NHS) recommends an SPF of at least 30 to protect your skin. It's also important to apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside and to reapply it every two hours.
