Hema began her career with regional cinema as a dancer in a Tamil film titled 'Idhu Sathiyam' in 1963.
Faced rejection
In 1964, she was rejected by Tamil film director, C.V.Sridhar who thought she was too thin to act and the role was later offered to Jayalalitha. But destiny had other things in store for Hema Malini. She finally made her Bollywood debut in the 1968 film 'Sapno Ka Saudagar'. Hema earned the nickname 'Dream Girl' in 1970 when she starred opposite Dharmendra in a film by the same name. Hema Malini has acted in over 150 films, in a career spanning four decades.

Hema is the only actress who has romanced with the five Kapoor squad on screen.
