To honour the lives lost in the Beirut port blast in August this year, people launched lanterns in the Gemmayzeh neighborhood during the Christmas tree lighting ceremony on Sunday.

A Christmas tree, created by Lebanese artist Hayat Nazer, has also been set up near the port of Beirut.

It has been decorated with uniforms of rescuers and firefighters to pay tribute to those who died in the explosion.
