Ending days of 'will he, won't he' suspense, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday announced his resignation from the post of chief minister.
Yediyurappa's resignation came on a day when his government completed two years in power.
There have been intense speculations about a leadership change in the southern state with many of his colleagues openly revolting against the CM.
On the event to celebrate 2 years of the BJP government, an emotional Yediyurappa said that he has been through several agni parikshas during his years in power.
The 78-year-old CM broke down in the Karnataka assembly before announcing that he would resign after lunch.
Yediyurappa had dropped a big hint on Sunday that his future as Chief Minister was uncertain.
