K'taka blast: Dynamite exploded, quarry owner arrested

The Karnataka Police on Friday arrested the quarry owner and the dynamite supplier in connection with the blast at a quarry in Shivamogga, which has killed at least five people, the state's home minister Basavaraj Bommai told news agency ANI. Initial probe has suggested that a truck of load of dynamite, meant to be used for mining, exploded at the quarry on Thursday night. Chief minister BS Yediyurappa told ANI that five people died in the explosion though earlier there were reports of eight people being killed. Police have sealed off the area and Bomb Squad has been called in to make further assessments.
