Myanmar’s junta-appointed election authorities will dissolve the political party of detained civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi, according to local news reports.

Media reports said the decision was made during a meeting with political parties, that was boycotted by many parties including Suu Kyi's party, the National League for Democracy (NLD).

Chief of Myanmar's Election Commission on Friday said, the National League for Democracy would be dissolved due to allegations of fraud during last year’s election and its leaders would be prosecuted as traitors.

Myanmar's army took power on February 1 alleging fraud in the November 2020 election that was swept by Suu Kyi's party, the NLD.
