Jolt to Congress: 20 senior leaders, 'close to Ghulam Nabi Azad', resign in J&K

As assembly elections are imminent in Jammu and Kashmir at least 20 senior Congress leaders who are considered close to Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned on Wednesday, demanding change in party leadership in the union territory. 

ln the resignation letter addressed to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and copied to Rahul Gandhi, Rajni Patil, who is in-charge secretary for J&K, these leaders have alleged that under the current presidentship Congress is heading towards a disastrous situation.

The leaders who resigned include  former ministers like GM Saroori. 

Earlier last week the Congress chief for Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Ahmad Mir had met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi and discussed the situation in the union territory.
