Exactly 27 years from the day that Amazon was founded Jeff Bezos steps down as CEO and his retirement kitty is overflowing. The world's richest man is worth a whopping $197 billion as per Bloomberg's Billionaire Index, over 80% of that worth is tied up in Amazon stock.

Despite being the richest man Bezos has faced much heat for not paying any taxes. A recent from ProPublica, which examined data from the Internal Revenue Service of some of the richest Americans said that Bezos did not pay any federal tax in 2007, when he was already a billionaire. He also did not pay federal tax in 2011, when his net worth was $18 billion and also got a tax credit for his children worth $4,000, the data added.

Jeff Bezos has sold close to $15 billion worth of Amazon shares over the past 2 years to fund his space project Blue Origin.
