The local organising committee for Tokyo Olympics denied entry to a Ugandan athlete who tested positive and was headed to Japan for the summer Olympics. As the teams from various nations are making their way to Japan for the Olympics, this is the first such case of an athlete being denied entry due to a positive test result. The eight other members of the team were taken by a chartered bus to Osaka. The organising committee and the health ministry are looking into the case but the local media reports confirmed that all athletes were vaccinated and carried negative reports.

As a precautionary measure, the entire Ugandan team has been put into quarantine.
