J&K target killings: Man shot dead in Bandipora, third killing within hours

Gunmen shot dead a civilian in Hajin of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday evening. This was the third attack within a span of few hours.

Official said that the gunmen fired upon one Mohammad Shafi  at Shahgund, leaving him critically injured. Shafi, the Sumo Stand Naidkhai president was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead on arrival.

Earlier, noted pharmacist M L Bindroo was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near his shop in Iqbal Park. Bindroo, owner of a prominent Srinagar pharmacy, was shot by the assailants from point-blank range while he was dispensing medicines, a police official said. Bindroo was rushed to SMHS hospital with multiple injuries where he was declared brought dead. 

In another shocking incident, unknown gunmen shot dead a non-local person in Srinagar’s neighbourhood of Lal Bazar. Quoting police sources, news agency GNS reported that the vendor died on spot. The deceased person has been identified as Virender Paswan resident of Bhagalpur in Bihar.

The shootings come close on the heels of Saturday’s attacks where two civilians were targeted with small arms.
