IPL 2022: Ex-Team India batting coach Sanjay Bangar appointed head coach of RCB

Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar has been appointed as the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), the IPL franchise announced on Tuesday.

RCB in a statement said that Bangar will be taking over the reins from Mike Hesson, who remains with the team in his existing role as Director of Cricket Operations. Hesson had donned an additional role of Head Coach for the second leg of the IPL 2021 in UAE. Bangar, who has previously worked with RCB as a batting consultant, said that It’s an honour and great opportunity to serve such a great franchise and he can't wait to take this team to the next level.

With Virat also stepping down as the captain of RCB, the team is likely to go through a makeover in the upcoming mega auctions. Addressing the fans, Bangar said that the management is committed to fulfilling the long-cherished dream of winning an IPL trophy.
