IPL 2021: Delhi to play against struggling Mumbai Indians, look to qualify for playoffs

A struggling Mumbai Indians will square off against the 2nd placed Delhi Capitals in the first match of Saturday's doubleheader at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

The defending champions who have finally found their feet in the second leg of IPL 2021 by securing their first victory against Punjab from the last 4 matches, would look to secure another win. The Rohit Sharma-led team is currently sitting at the 5th spot in the IPL points table and will have to perform well in their remaining matches to qualify for the playoffs on their own.

On the other hand are Delhi, who were riding on a wave of winning momentum in the 2nd leg and will now look to recover from the glitch in the last match against Kolkata.

Although Delhi is in a better position this season and will likely qualify for the playoffs, the head to head stats favour Mumbai. In all the 29 matches that Delhi has played against Mumbai, the former has only won 13. However, Delhi defeated MI in the India-leg of this year's IPL.
