November 19 is commemorated as International Men's Day each year, with an aim to 'promote humanitarian values', positive male role models and gender relations. The date was chosen by Jerome Teelucksing in 1999 to honour his father's birthday.

The theme for 2020 is 'Better health for men and boys' keeping the Covid-19 pandemic in mind and it seeks to make improvements to the health of the males.

Numerous countries like India, Australia, UK, South Africa and the United States observe and celebrate the day.
