Hockey India, CWG 2022, commonwealth Games 2022

The Indian men's and women's hockey teams have pulled out of the Commonwealth Games 2022, scheduled from July 28 in Birmingham. International Hockey Federation president, Narinder Batra, confirmed the news.

The major reason for the withdrawal was the Covid-19 situation and mandatory 10-day quarantine requirements for Indians in UK. Interestingly, Hockey India's decision came just a day after England withdrew from this year's Junior Hockey World Cup in Bhubaneswar citing the 10-day quarantine rule imposed by India.
