India vs South Africa Test & ODI series to be played without spectators

Amid the emergence of a new Covid-19 variant Omicron, Cricket South Africa has decided to stage the the entire tour which includes three Tests and as many ODIs without spectators.

South African cricket board said in a statement that owing to the increase in Covid cases around the world and the fourth wave in the country, it has decided not to sell tickets for India vs South Africa series.

The statement further added that the decision was taken in order to avoid any breaches that could compromise the tour from a Covid-risk perspective and to also maintain a hazard-free bubble environment.

Notably, India's tour to South Africa was in major doubt after the spike in Covid-19 cases in the country. But the 2 boards managed to keep it on with a fresh schedule.
