The discovery of new Covid-19 variant in South Africa has raised questions over Indian cricket team's tour to the country which is scheduled to begin from December 17.

An India A team is already in South Africa and are currently playing the first of three unofficial tests they are scheduled to play.

According to a report by NDTV quoting sources, the BCCI will await for Centre decision on the new variant before taking any decision regarding the South Africa tour.

The report also says the senior members of the cricket team who are currently playing the New Zealand series at home are expected to travel to South Africa on December 8.
