The Indian cricketers will travel to South Africa later this month despite the Omicron fear, confirmed a senior BCCI official to PTI. India is set to play 3 ODIs, 3 Tests, and 4 T20Is in South Africa starting December 17. Although the final confirmation will be given after BCCI's discussion in the Annual General Meeting, the official said that the board is convinced that the bio-bubble created by Cricket South Africa will be safe and secure. Further, the official also said that the severity of the variant is also unknown and that there has been no communication from the government's end on not going ahead with the tour.

However, BCCI will need to figure out the Indian squad's return after the 7 week-long tour as the Indian government has established some regulations for passengers returning from the nation where the new Covid variant was discovered.
