The trend of sports stars quitting the social media space ahead of a major sporting event is rapidly growing and few of India's Olympic bound athletes too became a part of it.
Indian shooter Manu Bhaker took to Twitter to announce her sabbatical from social media and wrote that as she enters the last leg of preparation for Tokyo Olympics, she is going off social media till the end of Olympics. Manu added that she will need the love, blessings and support of her fans to bring glory to the country.
Apart from her, wrestlers Deepak Punia and Vinesh Phogat and 10m air rifle shooter Apurvi Chandela are also staying away from social media, if not quitting it.
