India's dally coronavirus cases fell below 2 lakh for the first time in 40 days. According to the health ministry dashboard on Tuesday morning, the country logged 1.96 lakh new Covid cases in the last 24 hours.
This is the lowest daily spike since Arpil 14. India total Covid caseload is now nearing 2.7 crore. The country has seen a steady decline in daily Covid cases in past week after logging over 4 lakh cases a day for many days.
India also logged 3,511 deaths due to the contagion in the last 24 hours taking the toll from virus to over 3.07 lakh. The number of active cases has also come to down 25.8 lakh.
Union health minister Harsh Vardhan on Monday said that the daily recoveries from Covid-19 exceeded the new cases in the country for the eleventh straight day.
