YouTube has removed the posthumously released new song of slain Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, from its platform in India following a complaint from the Union government.  The song ‘SYL’ continues to be available in other countries.

The message on the song’s YouTube page says ‘the content is not available in this country domain due to legal complaint from the government’

The song, reportedly, has been removed has it contains reference to several controversial issues. One of them is Sutlej-Yamuna-Link canal or SYL canal that has been a contentious issue between Punjab and Haryana. It also talks about undivided Punjab and the 1984 anti-Sikh riots

The song ‘SYL’, named after the canal, was released was June 23. Moose Wala was killed on May 29.
