Whatsapp was cautioned by Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister of State for electronics and technology, for tweeting an incorrect map of India.

The minister pointed out that the world map used by the messaging platform to inform its users about a New Year's Eve livestream incorrectly excludes a portion of Jammu and Kashmir.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar requested Whatsapp to fix the error as soon as possible and added that 'all platforms that do business in India and/or want to continue to do business in India, must use correct maps.'
