5 dead, over 20 injured as Kanchanjunga Express collides with goods train in Bengal

Five people died and around 20 to 25 were injured after Sealdah-bound Kanchanjunga Express collided with a goods train near New Jalpaiguri in West Bengal on Monday.

An official said that the goods train rammed into the Express. Visuals showed multiple derailed coaches, some on top of others.

A rescue operation is being carried out by the Railways, NDRF and SDRF. The Sealdah Eastern Railway has set up a control desk following the incident.
