West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a major injury, the Trinamool Congress party informed through its official handle on X.
Photos shared on X showed a bed-ridden Banerjee with a cut on her forehead and blood dripping down from her face. The details of how she got injured are yet to be revealed.
“Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” the party posted on X along with pictures of Banerjee bleeding from her forehead.
PTI news agency, quoting sources, said she was admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.
TMC national general secretary and Mamata's nephew Abhishek Banerjee got her admitted to the hospital, party sources were quoted as saying.
State BJP president Sukanta Majumdar wished her a speedy recovery.
"Our prayers are with her for a quick return to good health," he posted on X.
