A video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi picking up an Indian flag lying on the stage floor at the BRICS summit in Johannesburg has gone viral.
The national flags of all the BRICS countries were kept on the stage floor to mark the standing positions for their leaders. However, when Modi approached the stage, he picked up the India tricolour and put it in his pocket.
The video shows South African President Cyril Ramaphosa following suit and picking up his country's flag. He handed the flag over to an official and when the official turned to Modi to take the flag, the prime minister gestured that he would keep it.
