Vehicles in Lucknow escaped a close shave with disaster after a massive sinkhole appeared on a road after heavy rain.
A video showed a red car hanging on the edge of the giant pothole, after the road caved in behind the vehicle on Sunday, March 3. Passersby in Vikas Nagar were seen recording the incident on their mobile phones.
The car was stuck with its rear wheels in the crater, and was finally rescued by the municipal authorities and police. No injuries were reported.
The crater is reportedly 30 feet wide and 20 feet deep.
Lucknow divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob has sought a report from the Public Works Department within 24 hours. Orders have also been given to repair the road immediately.
