Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the helicopter crash that occurred in Uttarkashi on Thursday morning.
Taking to his official ‘X’ handle, CM Dhami conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families. He confirmed that teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and district administration had promptly reached the crash site for relief and rescue operations.

“Very sad news has been received about some casualties in a helicopter crash near Gangani in Uttarkashi. SDRF and district administration teams have immediately reached the spot for relief and rescue work. May God grant peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense sorrow. I have instructed the administration to provide all possible help to the injured and investigate the accident. I am constantly in touch with the officials in this regard and every situation is being monitored,” CM Dhami posted on X.
The tragic incident took place near Ganganani in the border district of Uttarkashi and involved a helicopter carrying six passengers and its captain. Five people reportedly lost their lives while several others were injured in the crash. Visuals from the site revealed the wreckage of the chopper’s interior.
Garhwal Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that rescue and relief teams were immediately dispatched after receiving information about the crash. These teams were involved in assisting the injured and carrying out rescue operations. The cause of the accident is yet to be established.
The crash occurred amid the ongoing Chardham Yatra, which began on April 31. The portals of Kedarnath Dham were opened on May 2, followed by Badrinath temple on May 4.
