Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday expressed pride in the state's strong financial performance, as it secured second place among small states in a recent ranking by Financial Express.
Dhami credited this recognition to effective governance, public trust, and the dedicated efforts of his administration.
He emphasized that the government has prioritized financial discipline along with improvements in education, healthcare, digital services, and the judicial system.
Highlighting the role of the 'Double Engine Government' model and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dhami reaffirmed the state's vision of becoming a top-performing region, ensuring quality services and inclusive growth for all.
“Under the guidance of Prime Minister Modi, we aim to make Uttarakhand a leading state by providing quality services and opportunities to every citizen,” the Chief Minister said.
The state was recognized for efficiently managing its fiscal deficit, boosting tax revenue, controlling public debt, and investing significantly in human development areas like education and health. It also made strides in enhancing its business environment, streamlining judicial procedures, and expanding digital infrastructure.
“This achievement is a step towards the state's bright future,” Dhami said, pointing to continued investments in tourism, rural development, and tech-driven governance.
In addition to the recognition, the Central Government has sanctioned ₹164.67 crore under the “Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure” for various projects in Dehradun and Nainital, the Chief Minister’s Office said.
Among the key approvals: ₹828.27 lakh has been allocated for the construction of a pond and park in Ramjiwala (Mianwala) under the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA), and ₹672.57 lakh for the development of Gaura Devi Park in Defense Colony.
Dhami expressed gratitude for the continued central support. “The central government's support for big projects is continuously being received,” he noted. “I give special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ji for approving the budget for various development works proposed for Dehradun and Nainital.”
