Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday reviewed the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Harsil.
Taking to social media platform X, Dhami praised Harsil’s natural beauty and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received. He also extended congratulations to Gangotri MLA Suresh Singh Chauhan.
"On reaching Harshil, Uttarkashi, full of natural beauty, heartfelt gratitude and congratulations to Honourable MLA from Gangotri Shri Suresh Singh Chauhan ji, hard-working workers and the God-like people of the area for the warm welcome given to them," his post read.
According to an official release dated February 18, the Prime Minister’s visit is expected to be a historic occasion aimed at promoting winter tourism in Uttarakhand.
Ahead of his arrival, senior officials, including Secretary to the Chief Minister and Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary Protocol Vinod Kumar Suman, IG Garhwal Division Rajiv Swaroop, District Magistrate Dr. Meharban Singh Bisht, and Superintendent of Police Sarita Dobhal, inspected the ongoing preparations from Harsil to Mukhwa.
During the field inspection, Secretary Chief Minister and Divisional Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey reviewed the minute-to-minute schedule, ensuring that every detail of the Prime Minister’s welcome and departure adhered to the prescribed protocol and security measures. He emphasized that the arrangements should be flawless and completed on time.
The proposed event will also highlight Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and tourism. Discussions were held regarding the darshan-puja at the Ganga temple in Mukhwa and the live broadcast of the event through Doordarshan, along with media arrangements.
In addition, various adventure and tourism activities will be organized. The Indian Army will lead a motorbike-ATV-RTV rally from Harsil to PDA and a motorbike rally from Harsil to Jadung under the aegis of UTDB. The ITBP will conduct a trekking expedition from Neelapani to Muling La Base, while NIM will organize a trekking expedition from Jadung to Janaktal.
