Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday directed officials to align youth training programs with the needs of industrial institutions, stressing the importance of cutting-edge skills such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics.
Chairing a virtual review meeting of the Technical Education Department, CM Dhami said, “Training programs based on cutting-edge subjects like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Robotics should also be given priority.”
He instructed that training be designed to maximize campus placements, and called for educational industry tours for students to gain practical exposure. “It should be ensured that maximum number of trainees get employment opportunities through campus placement. Also, students should be given educational tours of industries, so that they get practical experience,” he added.
The Chief Minister highlighted the need to collaborate with IIT Roorkee to enhance training quality and optimize the Center of Excellence in Roorkee. “There is a need to pay special attention to how the Center of Excellence, Roorkee can be used optimally in the interest of the youth of the state,” he said.
He also called for the organization of regular employment fairs and emphasized a focus on outcome indicators in policy planning. “While making plans, outcome indicators should be kept in mind especially, so that the actual impact of the schemes is clearly reflected,” CM Dhami stated.
Reaffirming the state’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, he said the government is investing in youth development across technical skills, soft skills, entrepreneurship, and innovation. “The aim of the state government is to move Uttarakhand towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by the year 2030,” he said.
Highlighting international opportunities, he noted, “Employment and higher education opportunities are being ensured not only in the state but also abroad through programs like online placement portal, career guidance, faculty upgradation, internships and training in foreign languages.”
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to discuss key development issues concerning Uttarakhand. Expressing his gratitude, he said, “Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Uttarakhand is ready to play its effective role in the vision of Developed India 2047.”
