Heritage Aviation has officially launched its much-anticipated helicopter service in Uttarakhand, bringing a new era of convenient and time-saving travel to the region.
Operated under the central government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, the service connects major cities, including Dehradun, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Haldwani, significantly reducing travel time between the Kumaon and Garhwal regions.
With this service now operational, passengers can avoid the long and exhausting road journeys common in the hilly terrain. For instance, the usual 6-7 hour drive from Dehradun to Nainital is now reduced to just 50 minutes by helicopter. Other routes also offer substantial time savings, making travel within Uttarakhand more efficient and hassle-free.
Heritage Aviation is operating the service with 7-seater helicopters, ensuring quick and reliable transportation. The initiative is expected to benefit tourists, local residents, and business travelers alike, making travel between Uttarakhand’s remote and urban areas more accessible.
Currently, two flights are running daily on each route. Heritage Aviation, the only private helicopter company in India offering daily helicopter services under the UDAN scheme, already operates flights from Haldwani to Champawat, Pithoragarh, and Munsiyari.
The company is set to expand its network further, with plans to introduce daily flights from Dehradun to Tehri, Srinagar, and Gauchar, ultimately aiming to connect all major and minor towns in Uttarakhand.
Beyond enhancing connectivity, the service is expected to boost tourism and support emergency travel needs, providing quicker access to remote areas. With this launch, Uttarakhand takes a major step toward modern, efficient, and accessible travel.
