Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday flagged off 20 new air-conditioned tempo travellers which will ply on Dehradun-Mussoorie and Haldwani-Nainital routes.

Of these, 10 will run on the Dehradun-Mussoorie and as many on the Haldwani-Nainital route. These 17-seater mini vehicles, operated by the State Transport Corporation, are expected to ease the traffic on the said routes as they will occupy less space on the road.

On the occasion, the CM, after travelling in the new tempo traveller from the camp office to the GTC helipad, said that if this initiative is successful, the number of such vehicles will be increased further.

He also said that these new mini buses will not only provide safe, smooth and economical travel facilities to the passengers but will also boost the economic and tourism activities in the state.

Dhami said that the electric buses will also be added to the bus fleet of the Transport Corporation soon, for which the process has begun.
