The operation to rescue the 41 trapped workers from a collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand has entered its final stretch. The tunnel collapsed on November 12 and efforts have been on for the last 10 days to rescue the trapped workers.
The rescue teams have inserted a 1-metre-wide pipe in into the debris to enable the workers to crawl out. However, according to the rescue officials, the pipe hit steel pieces in the debris. The steel pieces were then cut to push the pipe further.
Officials said they expect the rescue operation to be over by 8 am on Thursday.
