Congress' Amethi candidate KL Sharma thanked the Gandhi family and the people of Amethi for a decisive mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
As per the Election Commission's early trends, Sharma is comfortably leading by over 1 lakh votes against BJP's Smriti Irani.
In his first reaction after the counting, Sharma told ANI that he dedicates the victory to the Gandhi family and the people of Amethi.

"This Amethi victory is dedicated to the Gandhi family and the people of Amethi. However, the result is not out yet as the counting is still going on. Around 14-15 rounds of counting have happened, which shows that I am leading by more than 1 lakh votes. Though, I won't call it a victory yet, since counting is still taking place."
When asked about his reaction on beating a sitting MP and central minister, Sharma said, "I just roamed around here as a candidate, but the main work was done by the people. Priyanka, Rahul, and Kharge did a lot for me. I am thankful to them for giving me the opportunity to fight the election,".
