Priyanka Gandhi, Yogi Adityanath offer prayers; PM Modi, Akhilesh Yadav tweet Maha Shivaratri wishes | UP

Amid the heated battle for Uttar Pradesh, top politicians celebrated the festival of Maha Shivratri with great fanfare.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited the Sihari Shiva temple in UP capital Lucknow to offer prayers.

She was seen waiting in a queue before praying to the deity.

She also interacted with people at the temple.

UP CM Yogi Adityanath also offered prayers at the Gorakhnath temple, and performed 'Jalabhishek' at Piteshwarnath Temple in his home turf of Gorakhpur.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted wishes to the nation.

Days earlier, the PM had offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple while campaigning in his Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav also tweeted wishes on the occasion.

The next phase of Uttar Pradesh elections is set to take place on March 3.

57 constituencies across 10 districts will vote in the penultimate phase of the polls.

Results will be announced on March 10 after final phase of voting on March 7.
