UP: death toll rises in cold storage roof collapse; CM Yogi sets up probe panel

The death toll rose in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal after the roof collapsed at a cold storage unit on 16 March 2023.

The number of casualties increased to at least 8 by the morning of 17 March. Over 15 people had been rescued, with search operations continuing in the morning, officials said.

Police said that the roof was built 3 months ago without necessary permissions, and the quantity of stored potatoes exceeded the capacity.The owners have been booked.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also set up a probe committee.
