In photographs capturing the alarm and desperation of Indian nationals in Ukraine, a group of around 40 students were seen travelling to the Ukraine-Poland border on foot.
News agency ANI said that the Indian students belong to the Daynlo Halytsky Medical University in Lviv. They were reportedly dropped 8 km from the Ukraine-Poland border crossing by a college bus. The group then covered the rest of the distance on foot.
Meanwhile, another batch of Indian students reportedly departed from Chernivtsi for the Ukraine-Romania border. News agency ANI said that Indian government's foreign ministry has set up camp offices in Lviv and Chernivtsi in west Ukraine to facilitate evacuation.

The Indian embassy in Poland also issued an advisory for Indians, asking those on foot or in public transport to go to the Shehyni-Medyka border crossing, and those in their own cars to go to the Krakowiec crossing.
A day earlier, the Narendra Modi government had announced that it is sending teams to Ukraine's land borders to help evacuate Indians as Ukrainian airspace was closed due to the war with Russia.
