An army vehicle was fired upon by suspected terrorists in a forward village near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday, officials reported.
The brief exchange of fire occurred near Phal village in the Sunderbani sector, but no casualties were reported, they added.
According to officials, the attackers, believed to be hiding in a forest, fired a few rounds at the passing army vehicle in an area known as a traditional infiltration route for terrorists.
The troops immediately retaliated, and reinforcements were dispatched to neutralize the threat. A search operation is currently underway in the area, they said.
In a separate incident, army personnel opened fire after detecting suspicious movement near the LoC in the Keeri Battal area of the Akhnoor sector in Jammu during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
A large-scale combing operation was launched early Wednesday morning and was still in progress at the time of the latest reports, officials confirmed.
