The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for his 'eradicate Sanatan Dharma' remark.
The court's direction comes in response to a plea seeking FIR against Stalin.
Notices have also been issued to MP A Raja, MP Thirumavalavan, MP Su Venkatesan, Tamil Nadu DGP, Greater Chennai Police Commissioner, Union Home Ministry, Minister for Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Department PK Sekar Babu, Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Minorities Commission Peter Alphonse and others.
The DMK leader had said that 'Sanatan Dharma' is like malaria and dengue and must be eradicated.
Despite facing severe backlash from the BJP and other quarters, Stalin stood by his comment.
Earlier this week, he said the Dravida movement was initiated to abolish Sanatan Dharma.
