Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta welcomed well-wishers at her residence on Thursday morning as they gathered to congratulate her on assuming office.

Meanwhile, she prepared to propose BJP MLA Mohan Singh Bisht’s name for the position of Deputy Speaker in the Delhi Assembly.

As per the Legislative Assembly’s List of Business issued on Wednesday, "Rekha Gupta, Chief Minister, to move the following motion: 'That, Mohan Singh Bisht, a Hon'ble Member of this House be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House.'"

A second motion will be put forward by MLA Anil Kumar Sharma and seconded by Gajender Singh Yadav. "Anil Kumar Sharma, Hon'ble Member, to move the following motion: 'That, Shri Mohan Singh Bisht, a Hon'ble Member of this House be chosen as the Deputy Speaker of this House.' Shri Gajender Singh Yadav, Hon'ble Member, to second the Motion," the statement read.

The Delhi Assembly is also set to discuss the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report titled 'Performance Audit Report on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi' during today’s session.

On Tuesday, Chief Minister Gupta presented the CAG report in the Assembly, leading to an uproar from the opposition, who demanded a broader probe into the alleged irregularities in the liquor policy.

Before the session, the Chief Minister held a meeting with BJP MLAs to discuss the report and ensure the House proceedings run smoothly.

The audit, covering the regulation and distribution of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and foreign liquor in Delhi from 2017-18 to 2020-21, is among 14 pending CAG reports assessing the performance of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
