Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi contacted Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday to discuss the rescue efforts at the SLBC tunnel. He commended the actions being taken and stressed the importance of exhausting all possibilities to save the trapped workers.
The 30-minute call included an update from Reddy, who described the swift government response, including dispatching ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Jupally Krishna Reddy to oversee the rescue efforts alongside NRDF and SRDF teams.
The Chief Minister detailed the medical assistance provided to the injured and efforts to support the families of trapped workers. He instructed Uttam Kumar Reddy to accelerate rescue procedures with careful measures and ensured Nagarkurnool district officials kept him informed.
More than 300 personnel from NDRF, state DRF, and the Army are involved in the operation. Officials reported the removal of water and mud to facilitate ongoing rescue operations, which continued into the night.
