The Congress leader was seen filling bowls of water from a large drum and giving it to the devotees.
According to the Congress, Rahul Gandhi is on a 'personal and spiritual' visit to Amritsar.
Gandhi arrived in the city on Monday morning and then offered prayers at the Golden Temple before offering 'seva' or doing volunteer work at the gurdwara.
His visit to Golden Temple comes amid tensions between India and Canada over the Khalistan movement and just two days the Indian High Commissioner to the UK was denied entry to a gurdwara in Scotland
