Punjab’s Freedom Fighters Minister, Mohinder Bhagat, said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to issue commemorative coins in honor of Punjab's valiant sons who sacrificed their lives during India's freedom struggle.

Minister Bhagat emphasized the Chief Minister's letter, which underscores Punjab's significant contribution to India's independence movement, featuring illustrious figures such as Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Sukhdev, Shaheed Rajguru, Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, Shaheed Lala Lajpat Rai, and Shaheed Udham Singh.

These heroic names are eternally engraved in Indian history.

Bhagat remarked that the very soil of Punjab is imbued with the blood of these martyrs.

Issuing commemorative coins in their memory would honor their sacrifices and provide a lasting educational legacy for future generations.

The Minister further highlighted that such coins would enrich India’s numismatic heritage and could be released during national celebrations like Independence Day or Republic Day, symbolizing the nation's profound respect and gratitude.

Bhagat expressed optimism that the Government of India will favorably consider this request, acknowledging the memory of Punjab’s freedom fighters with this symbolic act of national recognition.
