Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has commented on the recent controversy surrounding Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin's remarks on Sanatan Dharma.

As per Hindustan Times, Haasan's statement came while speaking at Makkal Needhi Maiam--his party's meet.

He stated that it was unfair to target a young individual like Udhayanidhi for expressing his views on Sanatan.

Kamal Haasan also highlighted that the term "Sanatan" gained prominence due to Periyar and emphasised that Periyar's legacy should not be claimed exclusively by any political party but celebrated by all of Tamil Nadu.

Pertinently, Udhayanidhi Stalin stoked a massive controversy after he compared Sanatan Dharam with dengue and Malaria and batted for its eradication.
