UP CM Yogi cancels all events, day after Atiq Ahmed murder

Day after gangster-turned Politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were gunned down, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has cancelled all his events for the day as per reports. 

This comes amid the security threats in the aftermath of the murders. 

According to the report, Ayodhya, Varanasi and Mathura, have been placed under extra protection. The priests in the cities have been asked to alert any suspicious activity or person at temples.

Meanwhile, prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) have been issued in all districts of Uttar Pradesh. Internet services remain shut in Prayagraj district as part of the security measures.
