Arrested TMC leader Partha Chatterjee removed as minister, suspended from party

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has removed arrested TMC leader Partha Chatterjee as minister.

Chatterjee held the department of industry, commerce and enterprises, department of information technology and electronics, department of parliamentary affairs and department of public enterprises and industrial reconstruction portfolios. 

He has also been removed from all party posts and suspended from the Trinamool Congress.

His removal from Mamata's cabinet comes following his arrest on July 23 by the Enforcement Directorate in a teacher recruitment scam.

The central agency has also arrested Chatterjee’s close associate Arpita Mukherjee, and seized crores of rupees from her houses in different parts of the city.
